The 2026 Honda Ridgeline has a standard 3.5L V6 engine that makes 280 horsepower1 and 262 lb.-ft. of torque2. We have to consider what that force allows the vehicle to achieve, like the 7,150-lb. maximum towing capacity3 for the Frontier. Meanwhile, the Ridgeline has much less capability with its 5,000-lb. maximum towing rating4. Also, you can rely on transporting hiking gear to the Piney Creek Preserve in the Nissan Frontier with its 1,620-lb. maximum payload capacity5. Here, Honda steps up but misses the mark with a 1,521-lb. total payload rating6, solidifying the Nissan’s position as a stronger and more adept vehicle.
Exterior

The Honda does have a bed that is wider at the wheel wells than the Nissan, with 50.0 inches of clearance, while the Nissan has a minimum width of 44.5 inches. The 2026 Ridgeline has an interesting In-Bed Trunk® feature that provides another place to put your tools, but such an accessory is not available with the Nissan. Yet, the Frontier’s storage area more than makes up for that since it can haul more with the available 49.2 cubic ft. of cargo volume7, while the Ridgeline only musters 33.9 cubic ft. of stowing space8.
Technology
You’ll find a larger infotainment screen inside the 2026 Frontier, making it easier to set up your entertainment, communication, and navigation tools before heading out on Route 19 to work or school. More specifically, the Nissan model has an available 12.3-inch NissanConnect® touchscreen display9, but the Ridgeline has a 9.0-inch touchscreen instead. Eight available speakers are found in the highest trim levels of the Honda, but the 2026 Frontier only maxes out at six, one of the few areas that the Ridgeline outshines the Nissan. Both models provide some similar values, like the available four USB ports. They each also have a 7.0-inch instrument cluster to relay your current speed and gear.
